Savage is looking for a dynamic new Team Member to fill our Safety Supervisor position. 


The primary responsibility of the Safety Supervisor will provide leadership and servesas a resource to the Operation Managers concerning safety, training, compliance, technical service and environmental issues. 



  • Works with the SH&E/Training Manager to develop training materials and resources for all safety related training at the operations
  • Creates an environment for growth and development of co-workers
  • Works with customer(s) to understand their safety expectations and ensure a "No Worry" relationship in the safety areas
  • Performs and follows-up on safety audits. Teach and help implement the observation and inspection processes
  • Has the ability to develop and teach a JHA and the appropriate procedures to identify and correct or avoid safety hazards
  • Identifies and develops the reports necessary to ensure compliance with applicable state & federal regulations (Permits, state safety programs, spill plans, etc.)
  • In the event of an occurrence, assists the Operation Manager to ensure the safety of everyone involved, identify the Root Cause(s) and makes corrections to keep the occurrence from happening again
  • Assist in new hire and refresher training
  • Works with the Service Support Center and the RIG Operation Management Team in the development and the implementation of the Safety Strategy of the company
  • Participates in start-up operations directing and overseeing the safety evaluation and safety practices definitions
  • Works with and support the Safety Specialists team as the operation’s Lead Safety Specialist
  • Utilizes the S7i system to update the SH&E and Employee Training sections as needed
  • Assisting the Operation Manager in all areas of safety & training
  • Working on shift to cover vacations and sick days for normal crew members when needed



  • Maintains a current knowledge of rules, regulations and compliance issues effecting operations. (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.)
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks. Manages time effectively (able to plan, organize and implement around priorities)
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the Savage System. Demonstrates by example the safety standards and values of Savage.  Able to work with an operation team, building the Savage Safety culture at the operation
  • Understands or has been exposed to contractor safety programs, basic safety training for hazmat, chemical training and certification)
  • Has appropriate experience in rail and equipment safety. Understands or have been trained in rail equipment certification, and OSHA laws
  • Communicates effectively both in front of a group or one-on-one
  • Ability to work with and perform computer operations (spreadsheet, word processor, and email operations)



  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with the following:
    • SH&E duties in the field
    • Equipment routine maintenance
    • SH&E certifications preferred (COSS, CHST, etc)


Physical Requirements

  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely
  • Willing to receive hazardous material handling training & general safety training
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Willing to work with liquid and particulate hazardous/non-hazardous materials
  • Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
  • In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
  • Able to travel on occasion



  • Position will require relocation to Garyville, LA area.
