The Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Analyst provides statistical analysis and information to the SH&E Team and Business Group with a goal of supporting continuous SH&E improvement throughout the Company. 



This position works closely with the VP of SH&E and Team to:

  • Anylize Company information requested by customers, third party contract clearing companies, and Unit / Group requests and share metrics with needed parties
  • Compile and complete statistical required reports to governmental agencies (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DOT, FRA, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner
  • Provide key metrics needed for department and group budgets
  • Perform safety event / occurrence classification reviews to ensure accuracy within S7i, internal reports, and external reports to customers and regulatory agencies
  • Provide safety event / occurrence trend analysis to the SH&E Team identifying problem areas so resources can be deployed to improve performance
  • Assist the Safety Leadership Council and Safety Advisory Group as needed
  • Maintain the relevant SH&E portions of The Link
  • Coordinate and maintain updates and changes to the Savage Incident and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) manual
  • Assist in monthly tracking of costs variances vs. budget
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience required, especially in Excel 
  • Knowledge and understanding of government regulations preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize work in an efficient manner
  • Interest in joining a growing team with the strong potential for advancement


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of applicable experience
  • Industry knowledge preferred (i.e. supply chain management, bulk material handling, truck/marine transportation, logistics, oil refining)


Physical Requirements:

  • This position is based in an office-setting and requires sitting and / or standing for multiple hours per day
  • May include limited travel to become familiar with operations and their SH&E needs
