The primary responsibility of the Diesel Mechanic is to maintain the preventative maintenance program and perform minor and major repairs for Bobtails and Pup Trailers used to transport Production water in Savage’s Uintah Basin Oil and Gas Services Operation located in Bonanza, UT, near Vernal. Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy and minor repairs on all trucks and trailers
  • Service trucks: fuel, grease, and change oil; actively look for needed repairs
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • The Diesel Mecahnic will utilize computer based diagnostic systems, skills, knowledge and experience to determine what repairs need to be done and whether it’s a Mack warrantee issue
  • Occasional tire work
  • May be asked to assist another operation on a temporary basis
  • May have the opportunity to participate in the Safety Specialist program

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of Diesel Mechanic experience 
  • The Diesel Mechanic will have experience with Mack trucks and pup trailers a plus
  • Experience with liquid transfer pumps a plus
  • Confidence in repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, minor engine work (injectors, turbos, etc.) and more
  • An expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus
  • Knowledge of CDL a plus, but not required
  • Has a vested interest in operational safety
  • Be able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Prepared to help with anything mechanical requiring attention
  • The Diesel Mechanic position may require a small amount of travel to other operations on a temporary basis
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule a plus and a willingness to work some night
  • Familiar with record keeping as it pertains to maintenance
  • Must be able to work without supervision
  • Must have an understanding of customer service and have strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders
  • Ability to climb on and off of equipment
  • Ability to frequently lift 100 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to handle large tools
  • Ability to work in environments where exposed to the elements
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, carry and position body in such a way that will enable you to perform your required duties; should not have a fear of heights
