Overview

The Transload Operator's primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to trucks within the customer's facility. It is expected that the Transload Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies. 

Responsibilities

  • The position of Transload Operator is responsible for the daily unloading of materials  consisting of a variety of bulk liquid and dry products      
  • Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment
  • Ability to perform work safely and productively
  • Ability and interested in being cross trained on all functions at facility
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to follow procedures
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Is not afraid to ask questions
  • Can accurately fill out all necessary paperwork
  • Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors
  • Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment
  • Assist with other duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep and painting) 
  • Interact with other team members
  • Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors
  • Understands customer needs

Qualifications

 

  • Read, write, and understand English
  • Basic math skills
  • Computer skills (light data entry)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Capable to learn how to operate and maintain railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g.,Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.)  
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other transload terminals to assist when necessary; maybe for up to a week at a time 

Education/Experience:

  •  High School Diploma or GED equivalent  

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders repeatedly (approximately 13’ or 12 ladder rungs)
  • Able to sit, kneel, squat, bend and stand repeatedly and frequently
  • Willing and capable of wearing a full face respirator for extended periods
  • Willing and capable of wearing full body protective over-wear and fall protection for extended periods
  • Willing to work with liquid and dry hazardous materials as well as non-haz liquids and dry materials
  • Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs. and work safely with this weight at knee, waist and shoulder level
  • Willing to receive general safety training
  • Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
  • Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials 
  • In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
