Are you looking for an opportunity to grow in your railroad career?  Savage is looking for Team Member who is responsible for assisting with the leadership of a specialized team in planning, organizing and managing day to day operations in our Green River, WY faciity.   Ensuring rail-car switching is done in a safe, environmentally friendly and efficient manner.

  • Operate locomotive, rail-car switching, loading, inspect rail-cars, perform air brake inspections and perform minor track maintenance
  • Assist with maintenance, clean-up, and other duties as assigned
  • Professional interaction and collaboration with other Savage Team Members and customers
  • Ability to work rotating shift schedule and overtime when needed
  • Participation in safety training programs, which may require brief and occasional travel


  • Experience and knowledge with;
    • Industrial plant operations and switching operations
    • Locomotive trouble shooting and operating
    • Rail-car; cleaning, loading, minor repair/inspection, switching
    • Forklift Certified
    • OSHA, 1910 General Industry
    • HAZMAT Training/HM126
  • Proficient in Microsoft office  
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision 


  • College degree preferred 
  • Management experience is a plus
  • 2+ years locomotive and rail switching experience  

Physical Requirements

  • Commitment to working safely at all times
  • Ability to be exposed to the outdoor elements
  • Must be physically able to do the following:
    • Climb on and off rail-cars and locomotives safely
    • Operate rail-car hand brakes
    • Operate rail switches
    • Walk long distances
    • Consistently bend, stoop kneel and climb on elevated surfaces
    • Work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
    • Lift up to 75 lbs consistently throughout the course of a shift
    • Operate basic hand tools
    • Wear required PPE
