Savage Services, a supply chain and logistics company, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Electrician at our Trenton, ND Railport operation.

Work as a member of the Savage Services Maintenance Team responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and controls for the oil field operation in Trenton, North Dakota. The schedule is two-weeks-on/two-weeks-off, so there is no need to relocate to ND.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems as they arise and repair or replace as needed. Troubleshoot instrumentation problems on the facility and mobile equipment to repair or replace as needed
  • Troubleshoot PLC and field device systems. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and controls
  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of production equipment including electrical, electronic pumps, fabrication, rolling stock
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex equipment problems
  • Dismantle defective machinery and equipment and install new or repaired parts
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
  • Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Learn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
  • Other general maintenance duties as required
  • Collaborate with team members outside of the electrical department, including operations team members, maintenance personnel, coordinators, and management to ensure the overall success of the operation
  • Candidate must have a good understanding of customer service


  • Candidates must be willing to be on call 24-7; two weeks on/two weeks off.
  • Understand electrical schematics, PLC and/or HMI programs, Sequence of operation
  • Understanding of instrumentation, VFD Drives, and field devices
  • Understanding of the industrial process and how the different components in such a facility interact.  (Tank Mixers, Train Unloading System, and Pumps)
  • The electrician must be able to read, write and understand English, have basic math and computer skills and be able to follow written and/or verbal instruction
  • Knowledge and aptitude to repair hydraulic and pneumatic components that include pumps, valves, cylinders, and compressors
  • Experience with Ethernet Controls / Networking / Switches
  • Motor Starters / Input Output (I/O) Systems / AC / DC Voltage
  • A successful electrician must have a willingness to learn, and a sense of urgency in performing tasks/duties
  • Verifiable experience in material handling operations is desirable. Mechanical and/or welding skills is a plus
  • Team Member must be an individual that is reliable, honest, professional, with a positive can do attitude
  •  Set the standard for safety, professionalism and performance


  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience with both electrical and mechanical machine repair
  • Troubleshooting mechanical systems and automation
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as individually
  • Verifiable experience in material handling operations is desirable


Physical Requirements

  • Will be on your feel for extended periods of time throughout the day
  • Navigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick, icy or uneven, and other industrial hazards
  • The work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely in this type of environment
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds
