• Safety/Vetting Surveyor - Inland Marine

  • Overview

    Conduct internal tug and barge surveys. 

    Responsibilities

    • Reports directly to the Safety/Vetting Manager
    • Conduct tug and barge internal surveys
    • Contributes to sucessful incident root cause investigations and lessons learned analysis
    • Assist with fleet safety alerts
    • Complete and submit vetting documentation to customers
    • regularly update tug and barge particulars in the OCIMF database
    • Conduct regular vessel Subchapter M audits
    • Coordinate 3rd party vessel and barge firefighting equipment inspections
    • Assist with representation of SIRE, USCG & Sub M surveys
    • Be availble for on scene emergency response as needed

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of maritime vetting and maritime inspection practices of inland marine barges and tugboats
    • Understanding of maritime inland tug and barge USCG & Oil Company expectations
    • Familiarity with OCIMF SIRE database
    • Has currently or willingness to abtain TBSIP (Tank Barge Self Inspection Program) Certification
    • Internal Lead Auditor training preferred
    • Flexibility for daily and overnight travel as needed
    • Regularly propose inovatieve solutions with an attention to detail
    • Proven ability to work safely and independently
    • Personal character that exemplifies honesty, trustworthiness and fairness

     

    Education/Experience:

    • High School Diploma BA/BS preferred
    • 4 + years in the maritime industry preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)
    • Able to travel on occasion
    • Must be comfortable working at heights, working outside in all types or weather, and working in noisy and dusty environments
