  • Overview

    The Utility-Maintenance Mechanic who will be responsible for understanding and implementing the Savage Maintenance Program at our petroleum coke handling operation located in Torrance, CA. At this operation, we manage the movement of this product via bridge crane, conveyor and heavy equipment within the ExxonMobil Refinery.


    • Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with equipment and systems
    • Maintain equipment and systems to the highest standards in very difficult and harsh conditions
    • Must be very knowledgeable regarding:
      • Diesel engines
      • Hydraulics
      • Welding and cutting
      • Conveyor belt operation, maintenance and adjustment
      • Electric motor maintenance and repair
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
    • Must have a strong ability to prioritize and adjust to ever changing conditions


    • Must be able to read, write and understand English
    • Must be familiar with computers and have an understanding of maintenance system software
    • Must be familiar with recordkeeping as it pertains to maintenance;
    • Must be proficient at welding and cutting
    • Must be able to work all shifts (including night)
    • Need to understand the importance of scheduling equipment for servicing
    • Must have experience working on yellow equipment that operates in harsh environments
    • Must have a good working knowledge of conveyor systems and all aspects of repair and maintenance of the systems
    • Must understand and have experience working with hydraulics
    • Must understand their own limitations and know when to ask for help


    • High School or GED
    • 2+ years experience in Maintenance


    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions and in all types of weather

    • Must be physically able to climb, crawl, carry and position their body in such a way that they can get themselves into a position that will allow them to perform their required duties

    • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment, which could include respirators
