  • Overview

    Savage Services is currently hiring for a Mechanical Technician/Electrician for our Martinez, CA operation.  In this position, you will be part of the maintenance team that ensures the terminal facility is operating and maintained in a safe and efficient manner and will assist the operations team as necessary.  You will also help with maintenance, including repairs and preventative maintenance, on conveyor systems, electrical equipment, PLC instrumentation and maintain and operate water treatment systems.  


    • Provide assistance in the area of mobile equipment and facility clean up, monitoring and repairs as necessary to provide service to our customer on an uninterrupted basis
    • Troubleshoot electrical problems as they arise and repair or replace as needed. Troubleshoot instrumentation problems in the facility and mobile equipment to repair or replace as needed
    • Troubleshoot PLC and field device systems. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and controls
    • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
    • Assist in moving mechanical components of the machinery at the facility.
    • Interface with customer representatives and SSC support personnel as well as other Operation and Maintenance Team members
    • Potential travel to other Savage Operations in the US and globally


    • Must have the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and repair material handling systems and material handling equipment
    • Self-motivated individual with good decision making abilities
    • Possess an aptitude and proficiency for analyzing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment as well as computer operations
    • Basic understanding of overhead crane operations, rigging, signaling, wire rope assembly / reeving / installation, as well as have the ability to work at heights on man lifts, ladders, scaffolding and elevated grated cat walks
    • Must be able to drill and tap holes, extract broken bolts, cut, bend and thread pipes/conduits and have some basic fabrication skills
    • Experience using a VOM and electrical test equipment
    • Basic computer skills: MS office, e-mail, Microsoft word/excel
    • Must demonstrate the ability to reference Savage Services Corp. and Andeavor Refinery, rules and regulations for inspection
    • Must understand the operation and maintenance of the DCU/CH
    • Committed to safety and will complete “Safety Specialist” and NFPA 70E training
