  • Overview

    The Midwest Forming Facility was built in January 2012 for the purpose of handling, storing and shipping sulphur for various customers while operating 24/7/365.  The site can receive and discharge the sulphur in both liquid and solid form in a variety of ways including, trucks, rail, and barges. The site can also store sulphur in molten form in its storage tank or on the ground in dry solid form known as prill. In addition to the facility we operate four sulphur tank trucks in the region, receiving the material in liquid form from our customer and delivering it to three local facilities.  All aspects of the transportation team are handled out our office including DOT compliance, maintenance and dispatch. 

    The Operations Manager position will provide managerial oversight of the facility and will report to the Unit Leader. 

    Responsibilities

    • Set an example of high integrity, "hands-on" leadership and fair treatment of others
    • Demonstrate a commitment to “zero occurrences” by effectively leading the safety, health and environmental efforts at the operation
    • Effective utilization of the “Safety Specialist” program as a tool for accomplishing the safety goals of the operation and for developing future leadership
    • Manage facility within strict environmental regulations
    • On-Call 24/7 for facility operations and emergencies
    • Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced environment, safely and consistently delivering results to our customers
    • Development of a business plan and execution of the plan including budgeting, projecting and cost management
    • Build and maintain strong customer relationships
    • Leadership with the ability to solve problems and make decisions both individually and in a team environment
    • Understands maintenance of equipment and maintenance management
    • Responsibilities are not all inclusive and may change based on the need of the company

    • Manage hiring, training, leadership and team building of operation
    • Manage safety & environmental issues, professionalism & cleanliness of operation
    • Planning & productivity (effective utilization of people and equipment)
    • Oversee maintenance of equipment and facilities; project management
    • Responsible for profit and loss, budgeting, planning and projecting
    • Must understand and commit to the Savage Safety Specialist Program
    • Must understand and commit to the Savage System
    • Ability to multi-task in any or all of these areas
    • Ability to travel on occasion

     

    Education/Experience:

    • BS in Engineering (ME, EE, Che.E, EM or CE)
    • 5+ Years of operations/plant management in the chemical or manufacturing industry
    • Basic understanding of material handling facilities and equipment including the associated components and maintenance thereof
    • Experience with project management and/or engineering a plus
    • Knowledge of computers and related hardware/software; knowledge of computer networks and programmable logic controllers a plus
    • Able to see the “big picture”
    • Understanding of heavy, industrial equipment from an operating and safety perspective
    • Ability to manage projects from conception to final commissioning
    • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system a plus but not required
    • Willing to study and learn new technical skills and techniques

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • The person should be in good physical condition. Some of the work will be outdoors working alongside field personnel, climbing stairs, ladders and on and off material handling equipment
