    Savage Services is seeking a dynamic new team member to join our team in Montreal! Have you ever dreamed of being able to build upon your current skill set? Tired of the same old day in/day out? If so, Savage is seeking a Transload Operator who's primary responsibility is to safely and timely, unload rail cars to trucks within our customer's facility.

    • Prepare the rail tank cars for loading; including a thorough inspection  
    • Will follow written procedures to load and unload unit trains and manifest railcars of LPG products using fixed loading racks
    • Complete and verify receiving and shipping paperwork and ensure its neat and accurate
    • General Maintenance ("bolt on –bolt off") as well as cleaning, housekeeping
    • Communicate with other train crew members and other invested parties, by radio, signals or by other means to aid in the movement and operation of trains    
    • Look to expand the role into rail switching and/or locomotive operation
    • Handle problems as they arise and initiate steps to resolution 
    • Commit to Safe work practices through situational awareness, following standard operating procedures, receiving constructive criticism and watching out for the health and wellness of others
    • Take an active role in the site’s safety program including participation in safety meetings, conducting facility inspections and participating in behavioral observations
    • Partner with the Operations team to ensure the facility operates smoothly


    • A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the transloading of liquid commodities including hazardous materials 
    • Understands, or willing to learn, railroad operations and safety 
    • Mechanically Inclined
    • Basic computer skills 
    • Can work independently with minimal supervision 
    • Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
    • Positive attitude and a good team member
    • Must pass a pre-employment reference checks, drug screen and criminal background check 
    • Able to routinely lift 50-lbs
    • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: extreme wind, snow, rain, heat and cold 
    • Able to complete the physical aspects of the job including opening and closing railcars dome lids, climb railcars (heights), crawl under railcars, walk long distances on uneven terrain, etc. 
    • Must be able to attend and pass all courses associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: WHIMIS, Savage Rail Operations, H2S Alive and TDG
    • Willing to reliably fulfill a rotational schedule



    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in the oil field or other industrial environment preferred
    • Some experience in a rail environment a plus
