    Savage Services has an immediate opening for a Yard Supervisor.

    Responsible for assisting with the leadership of a specialized team in planning, organizing and managing day-to-day operations.   Ensuring all pipe yard activities and dispatching of all trucks are completed in a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly manner.



    • Understanding of logistics, utilization of equipment & people, to meet customer service expectations
    • Schedule deliveries with customers
    • Work face-to-face with customers to better understand their expectations and build a trusting relationship
    • Ensure material is on hand before accepting loads
    • Track HOS for drivers
    • Schedule drivers and Yard team time-off to ensure customer needs can be met
    • Schedule sub-haulers in an efficient effective manner
    • Track Equipment; i.e.trucks, trailers, yellow equipment, including location and ensuring they are in safe operating condition; work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure assets are repaired and serviced as required
    • Occasionally fill in for the Inventory Coordinators on inbound material
    • Organize Yard Teams to most efficiently meet customer needs; inbound, out-bound railcar unloading
    • Hands on leader with operational and technical skills to ensure that “best practices” are being utilized
    • Managing team member schedules to effectively and efficiently fulfill customer’s needs
    • Able to work shift to cover or train team members
    • A positive leader with the ability to be proactive in problem solving, directing people, and utilizing coaching techniques for improving behaviors
    • Lead Better Way projects
    • Understands maintenance of equipment and the Savage Maintenance Program
    • Ability to train right, treat right, lead, and build teams
    • Create an environment where people are committed to professionalism and cleanliness
    • Teach and promote personal responsibility for identifying safe behaviors, maintain safe conditions, and environmental responsibility
    • Cleanliness of site and assist in the 5S Program
    • Willing to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
    • Provide leadership and guidance to Lead Safety Specialists and Safety Specialists in execution of the S7
    • Conduct one-on-ones with team members
    • Work face-to-face with customers to better understand their expectations to ensure a trusted relationship

    • Ability to work with and perform basic computer operations (spreadsheet, word processor, and email operations)
    • Good written and oral skills with an ability to communicate with co-workers, customers, and other Company personnel


    Physical Requirements 

    • Have the physical capability to work with the employees in the operation and train them in their jobs and assignments
    • Be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally
    • Ability to work outside in diverse environments, including extreme cold
    • Willing to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
