  • Overview

    The Business Manager provides strategic, commercial, operational and financial assistance for a specific unit.   


    This position provides leadership in the following areas:

    • Assist the functional support for new operation startups and integrations
    • Collaborate with other Business Managers and Directors in the Unit and Organization
    • Assist Unit reporting consolidation for the Business Unit and ensure financial reporting accuracy and timeliness (Daily Financial reports, Key Performance Indicator reports, monthly Projections and Variance Analysis, etc.)
    • Assist Unit efforts to develop business plans and operating budgets
    • Support the Unit Leadership team in major decisions concerning the deployment of capital and other resources
    • Provide advice and input into Unit organizational matters
    • Provide analysis and support to assist operations in identifying and implementing solutions to operating and financial problems
    • Proactively identify opportunities for improved performance and efficiencies
    • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with customers that ensure clear and direct communications and high levels of trust
    • Analyze the effects of operational changes and provide support for operational decisions concerning equipment purchases, employee wages, staffing plans, etc.
    • Develop an understanding of all commercial contracts pertaining to the Unit; Work with the Unit and Operations Leaders to ensure compliance with contractual obligations by Customers and the Company
    • Monitor contractual rate adjustments to ensure implementation and accuracy
    • Support the Unit’s development efforts in the structuring, pricing and operations planning of new business opportunities
    • Develop an understanding of local business conditions and the impact they have on the Unit
    • Become an industry insider with respect to the customers and markets we serve
    • Provide Unit support to implement and execute the Savage S7 Operating System
    • Work with the management team to ensure financial tools are properly utilized within the Unit
    • Ensure Managers receive proper training on internal Controls and accounting processes and systems
    • Other tasks and duties as assigned

    • Exceptional understanding of accounting controls and practices; proficiency with financial analysis tools; a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles and statements (profit and loss, budgeting, balance sheet, statement of cash flow, etc.



    • MBA or solid educational background in business management, operations, accounting or finance
    • Three (3+) years of business experience, including operations or finance is a plus
    • Will require approximately 20% to 30% travel to operating locations
    • Willingness to relocate a must


    Physical Requirements

    • This position is required to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions
    • Must be able to work outdoors in various climates for up to 12 hours
    • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis
    • Must be able to climb steps and ladders
    • Must have the ability to work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
    • Should have the ability to use basic hand tools


    Work Environment

    This position requires working primarily in an office environment and will include travel to and in environments containing dust, chemicals and other such elements requiring Personal Protective Equipment.  Must have the ability and willingness to perform the essential physical functions of the position.
