  • Overview

    Savage is currently hiring for a Business Analyst at our Service Support Center in Midvale, UT.  In this position, you will provide financial and operational leadership support in Savage’s Industrial Facilities Solutions Group.  Your primary responsibility will be to provide financial/accounting support to the business units, and also provide analytical support for business development opportunities.  This includes being closely involved in the day to day operational activities at each work site.

    Responsibilities

    Financial & Operational Support:

    • Assist with financial reporting accuracy and timeliness at the operations level (Revenue and Expense Recognition, Daily Financial reports, Key Performance Indicator reports, monthly Projections and Variance Analysis, etc.)
    • Provide analysis to assist operations in identifying and implementing solutions to operating and financial problems; pro-actively identify opportunities for improved performance and efficiencies
    • Assist with the daily and month-end inventory reconciliation processes
    • Become an expert on the systems used to control and manage all business functions
    • Work with the Savage IT group to constantly improve and adjust systems as the needs of the businesses direct
    • Identify and create useful KPI's and implement into systems
    • Analyze financial effects of operational cost changes and decisions (equipment purchases, employee wages, staffing plans, etc.)
    • Prepare and analyze Financial Projections and Variance reports, and adequately communicate results to Group Leadership
    • Assist with annual business planning efforts for operations and work with the Unit Leadership to develop annual budgets and key objectives
    • Oversee the financial controls for operations
    • Ensure Managers and Coordinators are receiving proper training on Internal Controls, accounting processes and systems
    • Assist with implementation of the Savage Operating System (S7)

     Commercial Support:

    • Monitor rate adjustments to ensure implementation and accuracy
    • Assist with the development of pro forma financial models and develop rates for new business opportunities and recreates of existing business
    • Develop a strong understanding of market conditions and the impact on revenue and expenses

    Qualifications

    • Solid educational background in accounting or finance, MBA or CPA preferred
    • Industry knowledge helpful but not necessary (i.e. bulk material handling, transportation, refining, logistics, marine, etc…)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
    • Creative and strategic in approaching issues
    • Possess good analytical skills that aid in problem solving
    • Relentlessly seeks improvement on an individual and company level
    • Conceptual understanding of accounting controls and practices; experience regarding financial analysis tools
    • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles and statements
    • Good planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Possesses the highest standards of integrity - Honest in dealings with company, employees, vendors, and customers
    • Works hard and is highly motivated; self-starter with the ability to work independently
    • Demonstrates a sense of ownership for problems and responsibilities

    Physical Requirements:

    • Will work in a professional office setting and will be required to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions
    • Willingness to travel to operation locations. (Principle travel inside North American)
    • Must be able to climb steps and ladders
